Anniversary!

Yep yep, Wednesday June 5 Jackson and I celebrated 3 years of marriage. My brain has basically forgotten what life was like before we were married...it just feels like we always were. I love Jackson with all my little heart and cannot imagine an existence without him.

We normally do everything within our power to ditch work and spend the whole day together but it just wasn't possible this year. Jackson got off at 3:30 and then we made a late afternoon-evening of it. We splurged on a super fancy dinner at Smokin' Friday BBQ, this little walk-up/drive thru BBQ stand. The food was really good. Jackson had the brisket box, I had the brisket sandwich. We'll definitely be going back.

After dinner he insisted on getting me dessert and of course I wasn't going to argue that. We went to DQ and I got an oldie but goodie, one of my favorite ice cream treats growing up, an M&M Blizzard with extra M&M's. Wow. It hit the spot. It's been SUPER hot here lately (super hot for SW Oregon this time of year that is), like the Mazda said 90 degrees when we went for the ice cream. My sister said the OC hasn't even been that hot so that's pretty funny to me. Anyways, the Blizzard was where it was at Wednesday night. Then, Jackson surprised me by taking me to Singleton Park, this cute little picnic area that overlooks the banks of the Umpqua River. We sat at this picnic table, gazing out over the river and feeling the cool breeze on a hot summer evening. I mean wow, there's that feeling you get when summer hits you for the first time, like wow, in this moment summer has come. I had that moment feeling the sun burning 90 degrees at 7:30pm, watching kids rope swing into the river, fainting smelling someone's BBQ...sigh. We just sat there taking in the scene and feeling pretty fortunate to witness such beauty. It was a perfect way to spend an anniversary evening.

Since we didn't get to spend the whole day together we decided that this Saturday will be an anniversary extension and we'll head out to see the Oregon coast. Jackson says the drive out there is pretty amazing - lots of beautiful country. He's also scouted out a little coffee shop where we'll stop along the way for a mocha and pastry (ok fine. That's just for me too). That might not sound like a big deal but it's kinda our thing whenever we have an adventure day. So we're pretty excited for Saturday. I'll be sure to take good pics and put them up. Until then!
